One of only 3 ovals in Singapore. During this period in 1953, the rear windscreen of the VW Beetle lost the "bar" in the center and as a result, has been referred to as the "oval". Arguably, the oval beetle is perceived to represent the peak in quality of manufacture: for example, the design, grade and thickness of steel for the bodyshell was of the highest quality.

The Volkswagen Beetle underwent significant changes for the 1958 to 1967 model. In this 1963 fine example of a restocal look, the dashboard is noticeably more modern with a fuel gauge and centrepiece grill making way for a Blaunpankt radio while the rear oval window gives way to a larger sized window.
